Caught up in the punk explosion of 1977, but realizing that his own musical skills were lacking even by the modest “one chord wonder” standards of the day, Philippe decided instead to surf the new wave through the medium of photography…

…EMBRACING THE PUNK ATTITUDE “GET UP AND DO IT” HE BEGAN TAKING PICTURES STRAIGHT AWAY, LEARNING AS HE WENT ALONG.

FOR THE NEXT DECADE PHILIPPE SPENT MOST OF HIS FREE TIME PHOTOGRAPHING FAMOUS (AND NOT SO FAMOUS) GROUPS IN CONCERT HALLS, CLUBS, BARS, BACK ROOMS, SCHOOL GYMS AND RECYCLED INDUSTRIAL SPACES.

MANY OF THESE IMAGES WERE PUBLISHED IN EUROPEAN ROCK MAGAZINES INCLUDING MORE, EN ATTENDANT, SOUNDS, VINYL, TÉLÉ MOUSTIQUE, PULSION, ECOUTE AND TRESPASSERS W, AND ALSO USED AS ARTWORK FOR BOOKS AND RECORD SLEEVES.

IN 2001 HE LAUNCHED A WEBSITE DRAWN FROM HIS UNIQUE PERSONAL ARCHIVE, WHICH PROVED AN IMMEDIATE SUCCESS WITH YOUNG AND OLDER MUSIC LOVERS ALIKE.
